The Campus Veterans Association at UA works hard to provide a network of support for all their campus veterans, on active duty or retired as well as their dependents and survivors. Donations help them expand scholarship, social, and learning opportunities.
Childcare Resources is on a mission to provide quality childcare to families in 4 surrounding counties of Birmingham, AL by helping families find providers and granting financial aid for all income-levels.
The Children’s Village provides a hopeful community of inclusion for orphaned children in Alabama, or those who have survived neglectful family situations. Through learning and positive guidance, this non-profit encourages growth and development.
Operating since the 1980s in the basement of a local church, First Light provides emergency shelter for homeless women & children in Birmingham, 24 hours a day. They offer wraparound services to provide gateway opportunities for healing to their visitors.
The mission of Pets For Vets is provide specially trained service animals to veterans. Their service animals are all saved from shelters around the country and bonded to their veteran mate through a unique process.
Alabama’s chapter of this nationwide non-profit teams up with pediatric clinics all over the state to prescribe books for children from birth to 5 years old. They provide parents and caretakers with early learning tips and reading techniques and ensure that kids receive these essential tools no matter what.
Headed up by veterans, this 501(c)3 group helps train and pair service animals by positive reinforcement techniques in Huntsville, AL. They emphasize the importance of companion animals for those who suffer from PTSD and related traumas.
This growing transitional home for veterans focuses on assisting homeless veterans sustain a stable lifestyle - it is not a shelter so much as a gateway to freedom for men and women who have served our country and deserve the best life after war that our community can help them achieve.
Launched by Imagine Dragons after the tragic loss of one of their fans, the namesake foundation provides financial aid to families with children fighting pediatric cancer. They have helped families all over the world and recently expanded their program to Alabama!
In Hendersonville, NC the VHF community provides a network of support for veterans to grow and heal after their military service. Learning to work the farm helps these men and women harvest a new chapter in life.
The WellHouse exists to honor God by rescuing and providing opportunities for restoration to female victims of human trafficking who have been sexually exploited. We provide residential, therapeutic programs offering medical, spiritual, relational, and emotional care. We welcome women and girls of all ages, and mothers with their children. Regardless of race, color, creed, or religion, survivors in pain can be assured they will find love and acceptance at The WellHouse. We operate 100% on financial donations and they are accepted with the utmost gratitude.
